I'm very pleased I went there, the salon is upbeat and positive, not pretentious. Bruno was non-judgmental and focused on the best possible results, not on criticism.
June, just a few minutes ago, gave me my favorite haircut I've had in a very long time. I will be coming back. Highly recommend!
I went in for a haircut for my son and myself. I have been before and had an excellent cut by the woman who's daughter works as a receptionist there. However, when I went in she wasn't there and a new gentleman was, I did not catch his name. The other hairstylists were busy and my son went with him first. My son has a specific hairstyle and I don't know what happened, the man just butchered his hair. I watched him and didn't know why he was cutting all his hair off. He didn't even seem to have a method he just was picking up hair and cutting it. When he got done, my son's hair was all choppy and uneven. I thought maybe my son hadn't told him what he wanted. So I VERY reluctantly let him cut my very long hair, that I rarely let anyone touch. I told him EXACTLY what I wanted, the weight taken off, it to not be tangled, all the dead taken off and I wanted it to be layered, but as much length kept as possible. He cut my hair for less than 10 minutes and was talking about stuff with my hair that didn't make sense. I didn't see a license just a backpack next to his work area. He chopped at my hair in the front with no specific skill that I noticed. He did one chunk that now is just sitting in my eye, which is going to be a pain to pin back for work. No layers, and he just barely cut like any ends off, not an inch or anything, more like just snipping at some of the ends. When he was "done" I asked if he could add more layers and maybe take off more length, thankfully he said he didn't want to touch it anymore and said no, (which a hairstylist should do what YOU want despite what they want to do). I just got up and paid the $45 plus a $10 tip, because I didn't want to cause a scene or be rude. I was sick as soon as I walked out about the money, I am not rich and even if I was that is still a lot of money down the drain. My friend came with me and the only difference she noticed in my hair was the chunk of hair now in my eyes, which looks weird with no other layers and why didn't he frame my face and make it lower?? It seemed like he was just someone off the street with no real experience. Thankfully he didn't mutilate my hair more, and I think he knew he didn't know what he was doing and that's why he didn't want to cut anymore. He didn't pin my hair up and cut it in layers, he just lifted and snipped for like 5 minutes, plus the chunk in the front. My son's face was horrible when he was cutting his hair and he does love his hair and it was long, now it's short and choppy. All he wanted was for it to be out of his eyes and the guy didn't even make his bangs even or any of the entire haircut. I really think maybe they were short a stylist and this guy just walked in off the street. He said he was a bodybuilder, was really muscular, I think a white guy, or maybe mix? He had black hair and was like maybe late 30's. He seemed really out of place. Please do NOT get this guy, wait or ask for anyone else. He should not be working there. I will not EVER go back unfortunately, and now I will just cut my son's and my hair myself. At least if I mess it up, I didn't spend $55 bucks. I never leave reviews but I don't want anyone else to get a horrible haircut, I know how hair is to people. I regret not calling him out in the store but I also hate being rude. Sad because the first time I went, the cut was amazing... But now my son and I are traumatized.
Excellent restorative color from Bruno. He is very knowledgeable about color, and the results came out fantastic!
****update**** I went in today and the owner Val cut my hair for free and fixed it. It looks great and the guy who messed it up was named Bruno, and maybe he just had an off day. She is amazing though and I will go back now as long as she cuts my hair. She also gave me a free coupon for my son, once his hair grows out. Thanks Val! :)
Both of the sweet old korean ladies are great and fast.
Best cut and color I've had in a long time!! Thanks Patrick. Highly recommend this place!!
The color product the salon uses is very effective and rich in tones,. I highly recommend Maui Mall Great Styles and Cuts..
***update*** I called and they were VERY kind and said I could come in and have it fixed. I will re-review the star number after I get our cuts fixed. They said he is usually not like that so maybe he was sick or something? Once again everyone in there is very nice, maybe it was a fluke day, and bad luck for me.
