Parts were great, but a great deal of the museum was biased and glossed over the grueling labor and poor working conditions that plantation workers endured earlier on. Worth seeing, but just be aware of these biases.
Good museum on the history of sugar production in Hawaii. Informative, but needs some updating. Some of the displays didn’t work. Good for kids as not a very big place some kid-friendly displays.
This is a quaint little museum depicting the life and work environment on a sugar plantation from its inception in the 1870's to its closing in 2016. When we last visited in 2013, you could hear the machines in moll and smell the aroma of sugar processing. Now all that one sees is the shutter hulk of the mill and this pretty little museum. Shame for the passing of another piece of Hawaiian economy and h I story.
More of a cultural/social history museum than an industrial/agricultural museum. Pretty decent for an hour or so.
It's very important to know the people behind the sugar industry that made the Hawaiian Islands what it is today, and that includes not only the tycoons, but more importantly the immigrant laborers that brought their culture & work ethic. This museum touches upon a small fraction of that history and it's a good start.
