The Advantage kiosk was immaculate, my first experience booking through with Advantage (previously an Avis member). Specifically I want to call out Fernando - who was the most pleasant person I have come across during my time here in Hawaii for our honeymoon (if that’s even possible as Maui itself has been overall pleasant). I specifically wanted a Volkswagen Beetle convertible and he made every effort to ensure my needs and wants were met and even offered some amazing suggestions while on the island. His client service alone made me a true believer in Advantage and will be using them going forward. Thank You Advantage team at Maui Airport!
Super friendly staff. Very helpful and quick. Gave us helpful recommendations for places to go and warnings about traffic. We ended up upgrading to a soft top Jeep since we are in Hawaii and it’s been a terrific choice for less money than anywhere else.
Why 2 stars? Simply the cars were clean, the cost was great, and the young lady was awesome when we returned the cars at 9pm the day we left.
I was livid...its not like there were any surprises...like i said we booked in June and dates/times were right on schedule.
This place is a joke, after a twelve hours of travel to get Hawaii, there were less then 8 people in line, it took 1.5 hrs to get a car. I had booked a car online, the car was not ready and was offered a "free" upgrade. My $280 cost somehow jumped to $600. This included the 200 deposit that was not disclosed anywhere on the Web when booking. Not realizing there was an up charge that when you sign the paper you apparently enroll in their insurance plan which is optional additional 200 "bait-and-switch" when you get there to pick up the car. The cost of the insurance was the price difference from what I selected to get the upgrade. Therefore, my upgrade was not free and they try to make you feel like you are getting a deal. They are doing you a favor? When essentially they are just tryin to screw you over. I will never, ever do business again with this company. It's really a shame because of all the corporate vendors I work with and how many people I am turning away from this service. When I brought this to managers attention, she said sorry you signed the paper, after explaining how I explicitly said I did not want their insurance and how I signed it they would not issue me back my 200 dollars. Keep in mind, I had preselected what I wanted online, they did not have my car ready, and then up charged me because of their screw up. Bad business guys! Just read the fine print when you sign anything with them.
Our review looks strangely similar to many other's experience. We booked this past June and were told that the last shuttle ran at 11:30. We landed at 11pm and my wife and i sprinted to the shuttle pick up point they told us. We waited...and waited. No shuttle ever came. Tried calling...nothing. We took a taxi to Kahana ($100 US). Too tired to remember to get a receipt. Took a taxi back to car rental place next morning for another $100 US.
You need to take a shuttle from the airport to get there. For some reason this was not mentioned in my booking confirmation or at least I couldn't find it.
Quick and efficient. I was pleasantly surprised to get nice upgrades for decent price.
Just got home from our Maui vacation.
Apparently if we would have kept ALL receipts they WOULD have refunded us or discounted us the 200 bucks. WOULD be been good to know this before we got there.
At some point I wanted to swap a car for a different one during my rental. I was pleasantly surprised how smooth it went. I just dropped one car and picked the new one with minimum paper work.
Brutal way to start a vacation tho.
