Five rentals, five positive experiences, we now think of Frank as a friend.
Keep in mind that this is a one-man operation, so you have to respect Frank's cars and Frank's time, and follow his instructions for pickup and return (which have always worked perfectly for us). If he doesn't answer the phone on your first attempt it's probably because he is transporting someone to or from the airport, or he is under the hood of one of his cars with a wrench in his hand.

BEST deal on Maui for an older but SAFE car rental! Frank won't respond to emails, so do it the old fashioned way and call to reserve your car. He's super clear in his communication and to the point. I rented a car for a month and had no issues what so ever. I look forward to renting from him again!

Read some previous reviews about Frank being not the most gracious person. I found him to be honest, down to earth (no BS), direct, and very accommodating. Vehicles are older but they do the job. Had a 2002 Lexus SUV. Worked great except for noise from the air conditioner compressor, which I pointed out to Frank. He may seem abrasive to some but I prefer to overlook that for his honesty. Very fast rental. Don't have to stand at a counter for an hour filling out forms and having to put up with high pressure sales for extra insurance. My rental was handled over the phone and built on trust. Reminds me of the times you could do deals on a hand shake. Well done Frank. Will use Frank again and again.
Also has probably the best prices on the island.
Everyone please be aware that they dropped the car off at the air port and never really told us where it was parked short of "Over by the baggage check in area. We had to search for about 20 minutes to find our car. At one point we called to find out more specific details as to where it was parked and I got an ear full curse words I care not to repeat. We had to pay for the car to leave the parking zone, and we got no clear direction as to where to return the car either. Our flight left at 10:45pm, so we had no choice but to park it back where we found it in the first place. Since that parking lot charges by the hour, I'm sure we will get a hefty bill on top of the rental bill for parking as well. We did not see on the back of the paper work that we were suppose to mail in the rental agreement paperwork posted marked by a specific date other wise it was a $100 fine. We filled it out, and left it with the car but who knows what will come of that. Lastly, we have been trying to call them all week leaving numerous messages, but they never called us back or answered the phone to confirm the car was returned ok
Really torn with this rental. One one hand the car was okay, and we never had one issue with it. With that and the amazing weekly rate made the rental very nice.
We have rented cars from Frank at least five times and have always been completely satisfied. If, like us, you are looking for a reliable older car at a bargain price, we highly recommend Frank's Friendly Cars. We like to "blend in" during our long-term stays on Maui, so a reliable 10-year-old car with oxidized paint and a surfboard rack on top is just the ticket. If you are looking for a shiny new car with all the bells and whistles, stick with Hertz.
Frank was friendly and very clear about what he needed from me in order for the car rental to go without issues. He delivered the car as promised and the paperwork was very clear and easy to read. The car was FANTASTIC in that it is an island car and made me look and feel like I LIVED in Maui which I loved. Everything on the car worked properly and the car was easy to spot in a parking lot because it was unique and not like every other white or silver rental car. It was GREAT! The car also got terrific gas mileage. I found Frank to be well, FRANK and FREINDLY and FAIR with his prices.
overall the car was good, and the service with it was terrible. I would not recommend using this service, just because you never know what to expect
